My name is Nadiene and I’m the founder of FEEL Collaborative.
How are you? I’ve been wanting to touch base with you for a while. But in the meantime, I’ve been waiting for some of the dust to settle.
There’s no denying, it’s been a pretty wild ride and a really taxing time for everyone in the first seven months of 2020.
So much chaos, so much uncertainty, and so much to contend with. Including a process of seeming constant and major change occurring in everyone’s lives.
Managing change isn’t easy. It’s one of those things that can cause a lot of disruption and upheaval in our lives. And when there’s too much change, it can affect out thinking, our routine, our relationships, our work, our health and our wellbeing.
So, the question is, how can we look after ourselves better in such uncertain and unpredictable times?
My advice to you is, to prioritise your ‘self-care’.
My offering to you.
I’m offering you the opportunity to participate in the Looking through the lens – a digital self-care perspective series of two online workshops of one-and-a-half hours each. These workshops will help you to understand the importance of having a self-care routine and how to fit into your busy lifestyle.
If you’re serious about getting more proactive with your self-care. Then this package is for you
So lets talk self-care, what does it mean?
There is nothing wrong with loving yourself or loving your ‘self’. The idea has been around for millennia and the ancient Greeks had a lovely word for it ‘philautia’. It translates rather nicely to ‘self-love’ or ‘love of self’.
In ancient Greece it was thought that, when done correctly, ‘philautia’ was the bedrock on which all other forms of love rested.
According to Bibiana Nertney, the Marketing, Public Relations and Event Manager at Community Partnerships of Idaho, when done in a ‘balanced and non-narcissistic way’, self-love is really self-care.
Here’s what happens when you approach self-care as a way of life.
Putting yourself first is not selfish. It’s healthy self-love, and the ultimate act of self-care.
There are so many benefits available to you when you take better care yourself for example:
- you have a deeper more trusting relationship with yourself
- you enjoy spending more time with yourself
- you get better at taking care of your own needs
- you become more aware of your thoughts, actions and behaviours
- you cope better with life’s challenges
- you grow stronger, more resourceful and resilient
- you experience better physical health and mental, emotional and spiritual wellbeing.
